The next show: Live from Nashville

The Bucktown review is proud to welcome mandolinist Mike Compton of “Oh Brother Where Art Thou?” fame for a special showcase music show 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Davenport Junior Theater in Davenport.
Reserve seating is $14 (with a special $10 price for current season ticket holders).

Mike Compton is Nashville’s hardest-working mandolinist. A long-time member of the late John Hartford’s band, Mike was T Bone Burnett’s go-to mandolinist for the “Oh Brother Where Art Thou” soundtrack and Elvis Costello’s “Secret, Profane and Sugarcane” Americana album and tour.

The acknowledged expert on Bill Monroe’s playing, Mike has recorded with Gregg Allman, Peter Rowan, Patty Loveless, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Ralph Stanley, Doc Watson, Hazel Dickens, the Nashville Bluegrass Band, Dolly Parton and Willy Nelson.

  1. We cannot say enough good things about the fabulous artists that performed at the Bucktown Revue’s Christmas Revue last night. It was pure perfection and the standing ovation was SO deserved! A splendid reminder of the incredible talent that is ‘alive and well’ in the Quad Cities. Thank you, Bucktown players, for making our holiday especially wonderful!
